SUCCESS STORY OF SNEHA TRUST


Kolar district stands first in having the maximum number of irrigation tanks in Karnataka,their dependability for irrigation again depends upon rainfall conditions. Because most of the tanks are filled with silt and main channels were encroached or filled with sand. In this situation Sneha Trust supports the Agriculture Department under Integrated watershed development scheme initiated the program in 60 villages of Kamasamudram village of Bangarpet Taluk of Kolar District. This initiative was started with field survey in the area to analyze the situation of the project area. Based on the output of analysis we planned the activities.

 According to plan of action we organized training to farmers, women groups and provided knowledge support to these groups through 3 training's on water management, project concept-integrated watershed, ground water recharge etc., experts from the various departments viz Agriculture, Horticulture, fishery were involved for imparting the training on various topics. 
 
  Then construction works were started by building Check dams,loose boulders, developing grass beds etc through community participation at cost of Rs,60,000/ per acre of land.
